ith energy efficiency and costs firmly in the spotlight for the public sector, there is just one event in this year’s
calendar that will address cost savings and smarter energy use. Shortlisted for the UK’s Best Trade Show Award, The Energy Event will help public sector professionals to optimise their organisation’s energy use, comply with legislation and put in place sustainable energy efficiency and procurement solutions. The event will run on 11-12 September at NEC Birmingham. Headline speakers include Philip Lowe, Director General for Energy at The European Commission, Daisy McAndrew, Prof. Brian Cox, Alistair Campbell and James Woodhuysen.
The 2012 event will cater to the public
and not-for-profit sectors as well as organisations across industry and commerce, making it one of the most relevant exhibitions to all energy users in the country. Bigger seminar theatres, better networking areas, a networking dinner, and more European and market leading speakers are just some of the areas that will benefit show visitors this September. Opportunities abound for Facilities professionals to network, and the mix of exhibitors means that those interested in building services, HVAC and other core facilities will be well provided for.
Visitors from, and organisations looking to work with, the public sector will have plenty to make sure that they benefit many times over from the event. One

exhibitor at the show is FLIR Systems, the $1.4bn organisation behind ground- breaking thermal imaging technology. FLIR cameras are used by a growing number of local authorities that want to maintain and monitor lath and plaster ceilings, and identify energy loss and moisture levels. Examples from the entire range of FLIR cameras for energy management and building fault diagnosis will be on display at The Energy Event 2012. These extend from the hand-held troubleshooting models through to the high end FLIR B-Series cameras providing every facility for the professional thermographer.
showcasing their latest innovations and newest products – including suppliers like E.ON and npower, brokers such as BIU and M&C, and ancillary product and service providers such as Spirax Sarco and t-mac. Two notable new exhibitors for 2012 include Scottish Power and WINGAS.
Exhibitors like t-mac Technologies will be on hand to explain how they established estimated savings of around £10,000 (a 25% reduction in energy consumption) at Wardle High School in Rochdale. The school is reaping the benefits after splashing out on t-mac’s latest energy management equipment.

Last year, the average visitor to The Energy Event represented a multinational company with a turnover of more than £69m, with just under a quarter generating £25m annual revenue. Smaller companies with fewer than 25 employees accounted for a third of all attendees, highlighting the importance of energy and its implications for UK and international businesses of all sizes.
