USAT to Offer 10 Camp Opportunities for Junior Triathletes
Junior members of USA Triathlon will enjoy 10 development camp opportunities this summer. USAT promotes two levels of camps. For less experienced athletes, or teens just looking for a week away from home training for triathlon, USAT recommends its Skill Development Camp program. These weeklong camps teach the fundamentals of triathlon under the direction of USAT Certified Youth and Junior Coaches.

More experienced, competitive juniors are invited to apply for USAT’s Junior Select Camp program. These camps refine athletes’ triathlon skills, particularly in draft-legal racing, and prepare them for national and international competition. Both Skills and Select Camps maintain a 5:1 athlete-to-coach ratio and ensure 24-hour supervision by USAT certified coaches.

Camps typically take place on college campuses, which afford them access to residence halls, dining facilities, and first-rate athletic complexes. The price of a one-week, overnight camp ranges from $400 to $650 depending on location and duration. The 2012 program will offer camps in California, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Texas.

USA Triathlon Debuts Member of the Month Program
USA Triathlon launched the Member of the Month program in February to recognize USA Triathlon annual members who have demonstrated an exceptional accomplishment or have made significant contributions to the sport of triathlon and all other multisport disciplines. It also recognizes those who have overcome adversity and/or have been supportive of other athletes.

Nominations will be accepted from the first through the 15th of each month. A designated panel will then select five finalists by the 20th. Finalist stories will be posted on usatriathlon.org. Members and non-members will then vote for each month’s winner from the 20th until the end of the month. Winners and awards will be announced online around the first of each month.

Visit usatriathlon.org/memberofthemonth for more information and to nominate a member.
