from the results of a purchasing survey conducted in February and March 2009 by Readex Research, Stillwater, Minn., the 2012 survey indicated a greater willingness across the board to buy equipment that might increase facility capacity. In 2009, the average forecast spending was $5.95 million dollars on new equipment and materials in the next year. T is year, more than 65% of purchasers said they would spend less than $5 million. “Good purchasing goes a long way to making a

TIME TO UPGRADE
Metalcasters surveyed indicated the three most important factors they look at when making a purchas- ing decision are overall dependability and the product’s ability to satisfy customer demands and improve quality. The desire to increase plant capacity was more highly valued in the present survey than in 2009.
How important are each of these factors when deciding whether to replace, upgrade, or purchase new equipment and materials?
