Donnelly departs as THQ restructures

THQ l RORY DONNELLY has left the publisher as a result of its restructuring. He joined THQ in 1999 as MD of France and most recently held the position of SVP of European publishing. He steps down on May 10th.

A company statement read: “THQ confirms that as a result of the recent global restructuring, the SVP of European Publishing role has been eliminated to create a more streamlined European organization. “We wish Rory well in his future endeavors and we thank him for his 12 years of service to the company.” THQ has faced a tough time of late following disappointing sales of its uDraw tablet. It recently sold its budget division ValuSoft to Cosmi Corporation.
MARVELOUS AQL l HARRY HOLMWOOD has been named CEO of Marvelous AQL Europe. The new office has been set up in Tunbridge Wells, UK, to look at marketing, partnerships, development and localisation. It will focus primarily on social and mobile gaming. Holmwood boasts more than 20 years of industry experience. He was former CEO of Pure Entertainment and VP of software and licensing at US accessories specialist PDP. He has also worked for Sony Computer Entertainment and In2Games. “I’m thrilled to be building a team to bring [our games] to the European
market, and to seek out the best developers in Europe to partner with for new products,” said Holmwood.
MCM l LEE MIAH has joined the event’s company as sales manager.
He will work on the firm’s popular video games, movie and comic events, including the upcoming MCM Expo London Comic Con, and collector’s show Memorabilia. Miah’s most recent role was at Centaur Exhibitions working on retail marketing event In-Store Show. He also
worked at Tarsus on international exhibitions and prior to that at IPC Media. He said: “This is an exciting opportunity for me to inject my creativity, skills and competencies; I am really looking forward to getting my teeth into this.”
