Structural Cylinder Increases Printing Speed


Cast Component: Structural cylinder. Material: Aluminum. Process: Permanent mold.


Application: High speed printing press.


Casting Supplier: Reliable Castings Corp., Cincinnati.


• T e casting uses 11 shell cores with a total weight of 100 lbs.


• T e application requires a high grade of cleanliness, no porosity and must exceed x-ray standards.


• T e strict requirements led to the creation of new molding equipment specially designed for the application. T e equipment allowed for tilt pouring of the casting and better accommodation of the large core.


• T e metalcaster produces 1,200 of the 80 lb. castings every year, and each one is machined, polished and black anodized.
