Don’t worry about being a woman
Australia 1 What was your career path and how has it led you to where you are today? My first degree was a Bachelor of Arts. I swapped to the Advertising Department of the newspaper I was working at and was one of the people selected to study “Computer Science” by Rupert Murdoch. After finishing the degree I decided that was the path I wanted to take. Realising that I needed business skills I did a Masters in Business Studies & Marketing to assist me in growing the clip-art business. The company was very successful and was sold so I left Australia to travel the world. I ended up in Paris where I worked for a registration company called “Info Salons”. It was this business that I brought back to Sydney at the end of 1989.

2 What are the main challenges you face in your current role? 1. People - My main challenge is finding excellent people who want to work in the Exhibitions & Events industry. 2. Technology - The other major challenge is the constantly changing world of technology. We are technology providers so we need to keep one step ahead to keep our applications progressive and yet still be relevant to the communities we serve.
3 What are your top 3 suggestions for women who want to get to the top? 1. There will be lots of hard work and commitment so be prepared to do “the long hours” 2. Love what you’re doing so that you always look forward to going to work 3. Don’t worry about being a woman – just worry about being yourself.
4 How do you spend your spare time?
I have 2 beautiful daughters 17 years & 16 years old. I have a wonderful supportive husband who is a “stay at home Dad” and is the main carer for our kids. I am very lucky to have all the joys of children without having to give up my work. I think it’s pretty unusual to be lucky enough to have both.
5 Could you describe yourself in three words? Motivated – Entrepreneur – Courageous
