Melting the snow eliminates the storage problems associated with just moving it around, and can actually be a more energy- effi cient way of clearing it, Railcare says.


While the SR 700 is suitable for depots and similar areas, smaller machines in the same range are aimed at more confi ned ar- eas: the SR 300 aimed at level crossings, for example, and the SR 100 has the fl ex- ibility to be used on any track or crossing.


While the fi rst SR 700 is coming to Stock- holm for training and evaluation, Marklund says he does foresee export opportunities: if the UK has a few more winters like those of 2009/10 and 2010/11, we may yet see a few on these shores.
