“To rest content with results achieved is the first sign of decay.”

A quick glimpse around the busy shop let’s you know Parks and his hard-working employees are driven by that philosophy. One look at the finished product confirms that they have once again outdone themselves. The staff at Parks Custom Cabinets strives for excel- lence on a daily basis and they don’t think you as a cus- tomer should have to settle for anything less than the best, either.

Parks has been setting the bar on custom cabinet building here in northeast Oklahoma for nearly 20 years. The shop is located just south of Chelsea on Highway 28. The facility has evolved steadily over the years to accom- modate the growth of the business.

Parks got his start nearly 20 years ago building cabi- nets in his father’s garage. Five years later he constructed a 60-foot by 40-foot shop at his home a few miles up the road. Expansion has taken place twice since, including a recent 4,000 square-foot addition that is now nearly complete.

Services offered by Parks and his staff of nine full- time and three part-time employees extend beyond simply the production of quality cabinetry. They refuse to adopt a

cookie-cutter approach to their work, so it is no surprise that Parks views the business a little differently. “We are a customer service business that just happens

to be in the cabinet business,” he said. “We spend a lot of time up front, working with the customer. We want to make sure we know exactly what they want. We also want to give them some options to consider—maybe even present them with some things they haven’t thought of. Ultimately, we want our stuff to look good and feel responsible for how everything comes together. The customer service aspect is a big part of what you get when you get us.”

Parks Custom Cabinets is a local, family-owned operation, but don’t let that fool you. Small by some standards, Parks implements cutting-edge manufac- turing technology during the design and production phases of each project they tackle. Utilizing a highly specialized piece of equipment known as a CNC router allows Parks to couple speed with precision during the manufacturing process. Each job begins as a computer-aided design.
