Swan news


Winter or summer we are always busy with swans. Sometimes they have hit power lines, landed on roads or motorways thinking they are water and all too often due to discarded fishing tackle.

Just after Christmas, staff attended a poor swan who had landed inside a compound by mistake and didn’t have enough space to gain height and get out. He had failed to fly high enough over the fence and had become impaled on the spiked security fence.


Animal carers, Emily and Judith were able to get him off the fence and then it was a journey into the vets for stitching and then back for recovery. Luckily he recovered quite quickly and was soon back in the wild for his second chance.
