Pauline’s page Dear Friends,
I hope you may have already heard about the launch of our new project the 'Call of the Wild Appeal' which took place in February. You may remember that Sir Terry Prachett made contact with our charity through the dreadful crime involving the shooting of swans. Sir Terry Prachett very kindly came to launch our appeal for us and attracted an amazing amount of press, television and radio so word was soon out! Our fundraising team also worked so hard to make a success of the launch too.
I’m sure you will know that it has always been my dream that eventually we would be able to secure the charity into the future. I also wanted to find a way to inspire and teach children and adults about our wonderful countryside. This project has already been in the making for two years. It has been a tremendous amount of work to research the need, gain planning, plan how to equip the new proposed building and to cost all the necessary moves that will secure Secret World into the future.
Hopefully by next year the charity, Secret World Wildlife Rescue, will own all the property and land. Don’t worry - I’m not going anywhere yet! But I have always known that should something happen to me, all that I have worked for

could be put in jeopardy. This project will safe guard all that WE have achieved - I could not have done it without dedicated staff, volunteers and you. We are so close now to making it happen.
It is a large project - £4.4 million and we already have 1.3 million pledged. Two years running costs are built within that amount in case people decide to give to the appeal rather than our running costs which are so crucial to us continuing. So it's a large push to ask everyone to come on board and take part in a Secret World fundraising event or organise their own.
Our fundraising team have lots of ideas and there is a dedicated page on our website (
www.secretworld.org/ fundraising_callofthewild.html) so that you can follow our progress or you can email
save@secretworld.org for more information.
Every penny will count so no donation will be too small - like leaves on trees - it can be possible.
We have some fantastic support from our patrons and other celebrities who are speaking up to say that this project will mean so much to the welfare and very existence of our British Wildlife.
