Airbus is banking on the flair of the French fashion industry to lure corporate jet completions to its Toulouse outfitting center.


The Airbus Corporate Jet Center (ACJC) in Toulouse may be young in the business of VVIP cabin outfitting and not as famous as some of its Swiss or U.S. competitors. Yet, its senior executives are confident they hold winning trump cards.


In addition to the obvious close relationship with parent company Airbus, they believe the French culture of luxury goods and the flair of their in-house designer have helped persuade customers. At least, they have met their target production rate and almost doubled their workforce since the company’s inception in 2007. “Our first differentiators are our proximity with Airbus and our specializing in ACJs – the ACJ319, ACJ320 and ACJ321,” Bruno Galzin, head of sales and marketing, told Aviation Maintenance during a visit. Interaction, on technical issues, with the neighboring airframer’s offices is easy. Combined with the specialization, this gives the ACJC a deep and constantly updated knowledge of the aircraft. Then there is the French tradition of making exclusive products such as fine leather goods, customized furniture etc. The ACJC’s people certainly do not claim France is the only country with such skills. But, “at least, we are one of them,” they say. “We can find around us small, innovative enterprises that
