Registration Open for Sherwin-Williams Aerospace Coatings Training


The Sherwin-Williams Aerospace Coatings 2012 training program is set to help expand the skill sets of aerospace coatings painting professionals. The latest technology and procedures are included, from applying new chrome and lead hazard free surface treatments and primer systems, to spraying the latest in technology-driven topcoats. The course schedule for 2012 includes classes to be held: April 17 – 18; June 19 – 20; Sept. 11 – 12; and Nov. 13 – 14. All classes will be held in the Sherwin-Williams Andover (Wichita) Kan. training facilities. In particular, training will now include work with Sherwin Williams’ SKYscapes, a new basecoat/clearcoat exterior paint system the company says delivers fast processing time, improved color and gloss retention, and easy maintenance. The company says their training will lead to augmenting production schedules and turning around more paint jobs. During the two-day session is held at Sherwin-Williams’ modern Customer Service and


Training Center. “Our two-day training programs are designed for all levels of paint shop personnel,” said Julie Voisin, Sherwin-William aerospace product manager. “New technicians can become better acquainted with our products and the best application techniques, while seasoned pros can take time to refine their skills in an actual shop setting. Our goal is to have every participant leave with inspiration and ideas to help them create the best paint jobs possible back at their own shops, on every plane, every time.” All training sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. A per-person registration fee of $299 includes classroom and hands-on training with skilled industry professionals; a training book and related materials; all necessary safety equipment; catered lunch each day; and certified training certificate.


Premier Aviation Full Speed Ahead


Following recent news of expansion, acquisition and development of their North American airframe heavy maintenance facilities, Premier Aviation reports their hangars have been busy. Their new hangar currently has three B737NG’s in-house and has had to establish a second paint line. Now into its fourth quarter, the company says the Trois-Rivieres facility has proven its need for the recent headquarters expansion. Since the expansion, the plant has sustained a fifty percent increase in activities. Premier says the 150,000 sq. facility is running full speed ahead allowing for a new level flexibility, unattainable prior to construction. Premier’s U.S. facility in Rome, New York is notable not only due to its size, but also the success of its first year in operation. Premier says it has duplicated the process controls, commitment to task and focus on continuous improvement that have branded Trois-Rivieres and that Rome continues to meet all targets managing fleet types such as the C5A Galaxy Military Transport.


In the past few months, Premier says it has not only seen increased interest within the North American Aviation industry, but has performed maintenance for two South American operators and is close to closing on two European-based narrow-bodies.


JetFlite Launches Aircraft Refinishment Program


JetFlite International (JFI) has launched an Aircraft Refinishment Program that repairs and refinishes existent components and materials with minimal replacing. “The program really is an aircraft facelift for a fraction of the price an overhaul shop will charge,” said Bill Cripe, JFI’s CEO. “Today, operators are facing aging aircraft while budgets for new interiors and paint are diminishing. This is a cost-effective way to address their concerns while downtime for their aircraft is minimal.” JFI dedicates a point-person “expeditor” throughout the entire project Refinishment services include re-plating metal surfaces, mirror repair/replacement, woodwork restoration, soft furnishings and upholstery repair, cabinetry and hand trim revitalization, custom embroidery, galley appliances repair, seat belt re-webbing and buckle re-plating, refinishing or replacing cabin and lavatory accessories and interior touchup painting.

Operational Control in Little Rock. Before moving to Little Rock, Ajarrista had served as production director in Dassault Bordeaux- Merignac facility, where he was responsible for military programs. Prior to joining the Merignac plant in 2001, Ajarrista held a variety of management positions in Dassault Aviation engineering department since joining the company in 1987. Ajarrista holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering from the Ecole Centrale de Paris.


Ream New SVP at American American Airlines has appointed James B. Ream to the position of senior VP operations. This position is in addition to Ream’s current status as VP maintenance and engineering. Ream was formerly CEO of Express Jet Airlines as well as COO of Continental Express Airlines.


Phoenix Heliparts Appoints Chris Murvine Lead Inspector/Director of Training


Phoenix Heliparts, Inc., of Mesa, AZ, has appointed Chris Murvine as lead inspector and director of training. The lead inspector has the authority and responsibility for


coordinating, accomplishing, supervising and performing all inspection functions. He will report to Marcus Landry, quality manager. Murvine brings extensive technical knowledge on the MD range of helicopters to Phoenix Heliparts, having worked most recently for MD Helicopters as senior maintenance instructor for four years and field service engineer for 11 years. He is a graduate of the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, earning a Master’s degree in both Technical Management and Aeronautical Science.


West Star Aviation Welcomes New General Manager at Dallas Love West Star Aviation recently announced John Hayes has joined their team as general manager at their Dallas, TX facility located at Love Field Airport (DAL). Hayes


brings more than 33 years of experience in the aviation industry with him to West Star. Most recently, he was director of maintenance with Business Jet Access in Dallas, TX. In addition, he has held positions with NJI, Inc., Executive Jet International, Net Jets Middle East, Saudi Arabian Airlines and Gulfstream. John brings a strong background in QA, fleet management, facility management and all requirements within Parts 129, 135 and 145 certificate operations, within U.S. and International operations. In his new position as General Manager, John will be responsible for overseeing all operations at the DAL location.
