Memorial Hospital medical staff . T e Patients First Fund will assist patients with essential needs related to their medical condition, before or aſt er hospitalization, up to $3,000. Discharge planners or other hospital staff may initiate a request when they identify eligible patients, but physician approval will be required.
Led by Community Memorial Foundation Board members David Lane, MD, Anuradha Raman, MD, and Gregory Van Winkle, MD, the new fund will help ensure that patients get the care they need to make an optimal recovery. T e goal is to raise $100,000 so the new fund will be operational and ready to assist patients in 2012.

Hospital physicians join forces to assist patients in recovery
W
hen patients leave Froedtert Health Community Memorial Hospital, they oſt en face a long road to
recovery. Physicians and other hospital care providers have long been aware that some patients need equipment, services, medications or other specialized needs that are critical to their healing, but are not covered by insurance. Many of these patients can’t aff ord to cover the cost themselves.
To address these needs, a special appeal was launched in November 2011 to create the Patients First Fund, a new initiative established, supported and directed by Community
