Annual Giving Report
T ank You to our Foundation Friends:
Froedtert Health Community Memorial Hospital, like every other health care organization, faces a constantly shiſt ing landscape largely shaped by forces out of its control. T e hospital is challenged to deliver the very best
The pace of change in health
quality care, provided by highly trained, caring staff , while reducing costs and maintaining its competitive edge.
In times like these, staying focused on the hospital’s core mission is more important than ever. As we look back over the year just past, we are grateful for the inspiration and support of our many valued friends, donors and volunteers. Because of you, Community Memorial Foundation has remained true to its mission of preserving, enhancing and advancing quality health care in our local community.
In 2011, the Community Outreach Health Clinic broke another record for patient visits: 2,485, the highest in its 11-year history of providing essential medical care to the uninsured. T anks to generous community support, our staff of four part-time nurse practitioners, more than 90 volunteers and 10-12 student nurses were able to keep pace with the rising demand. We anticipate patient volume will continue at this increased level in 2012.
As part of an extensive renovation of our Cancer Care Center, a new linear accelerator was installed, replacing the equipment in use since 2000. T is innovative technology provides extremely precise, targeted radiation that destroys cancer cells while sparing the surrounding healthy tissue. T e new linear accelerator was purchased with funds raised from the community. Foundation donors also supported the conversion to digital mammography, the gold standard of care in the hospital’s Breast Care Center. By making the latest, most innovative treatments available here in our local community, your support means longer, healthier lives for our residents.
T e Foundation’s partnership with the Bobbie Nick Voss Charitable Funds continued into its third year. T rough this grant, screening colonoscopies were provided to 21 Outreach Clinic patients at-risk for colorectal cancer, and a community health educator reached thousands of people with the message of prevention and early detection as keys in battling this life-threatening disease.
Also, we invested in a well-trained workforce of the future by granting over $35,000 in scholarships for local students pursuing health care careers.
With your continued partnership, Community Memorial Foundation will face future challenges with a shared commitment to the strength and health of our community. T ank you for your friendship and support!
