for America’s finest garden roses.™

Welcome to Edmunds’ Roses, Spring 2012

T e rose is America’s National Flower. It’s often called the “Queen of Flowers.” Yet for all their fame, how many times have you heard, “I don’t have any luck growing roses,” or “Growing roses is too much work.”

T ere may be a grain of truth in these statements, but the key to successfully growing any plant is in knowing a bit about them. It’s our goal that our factual descriptions will help you sort out what roses are best for you. Many of our customers are true ro- sarians, willing to indulge their roses with some extra care to coax them into produc- ing gorgeous, long-stemmed, exhibition quality blooms. However, we want to assure you that even everyday gardeners can grow beautiful roses with very little eff ort. One of the keys is knowing your climate and its vagaries, then selecting varieties of roses that are adapted to it. If you live in a cold climate and don’t want to cover your roses in winter, only plant roses proven hardy in your zone. If you have humid summers, choose varieties that resist diseases. Another key point is to consider the location where you will plant your rose in terms of soil, sunshine, etc.

At Edmunds’ Roses, we strive to fi nd a balance of rose selections that will meet the standards of the most critical rosarians, and at the same time, off er varieties that are easily grown, widely adapted and require minimal maintenance. Many of the roses being bred today are intended for use as colorful fl owering shrubs. T is year we’ve expanded our selection of these landscape workhorses with the addition of Oso Easy® and Oso Happy™ roses as well as favorite roses from the famous Biltmore® Estates. In all, we’re off ering over 40 new roses, selected by the world’s foremost hybridizers as

the “best of the best”.

At Edmunds’, our business is fi nding and selling the best roses available, but our goal is helping gardeners grow the “Queen of Flowers” successfully. If there is more we can do to make your rose-growing experience easier and even more enjoyable, please let us know. Your feedback helps us all.

Wishing you a great year in your gardens,

Dick Zondag, President Edmunds’ Roses

P.S. Be sure to take a look at our new selection of premium clematis (they combine so beautifully with roses) and also a unique hydrangea from the Biltmore® Estates. Enjoy!
