Day 1 (from 12 noon) Gocek
Your captain and crew will welcome you on board your luxurious waterborne home for the week with a glass of chilled champagne. Once you have been shown round the motoryacht and settled in to the comfortable accommodation, you will have the opportunity to talk to the captain and chef about the itinerary and dining arrangements for the week ahead.
After a short safety briefing, the vessel will slip its lines in Port Gocek Marina and head out for a short cruise. The mainland south of Gocek is lined with a series of islands which act as shelter. This area, called Skopea Limani, boasts many attractive anchorages. The landscape here is breathtaking – vast cliffs, scarred with caves and ravines, separate steep slopes which are covered in pine trees.
Your captain will find a suitable anchorage where a delicious light lunch can be served on the aft deck of your Sunseeker.
Later, after some relaxing in the sun and perhaps a swim in the beautiful clear waters, your motoryacht will return to Port Gocek Marina for the night. The marina is a peaceful spot away from the main village and has its own restaurant. Alternatively you may wish to venture into the village itself to try the local cuisine or even have a barbecue on board your Sunseeker.
Day 2 Gocek – Olu Deniz
After a leisurely breakfast you will head out of the marina and south-eastwards.
This morning you will have the opportunity to explore some more of the islands in the Skopea Limani area. There will be the chance to swim or just to sit back, relax and enjoy the vertiginous cliff views.
The captain will ensure a sheltered anchorage is found for a lunchtime stop. Many of the bays have restaurants – so you will have the option of going ashore or staying on board.
Later, you will head off again – this time towards your destination, Olu Deniz. Olu Deniz is known for its natural lagoon and very long stretch of beach. Although your motoryacht will not be able to enter the lagoon, there is an anchorage at the entrance. The lagoon, skirted by a pristine beach and overlooked by high mountains, is extremely beautiful.
The beach on the sea side of the lagoon is serviced by several restaurants and bars. Tonight you can go ashore by tender to enjoy some local hospitality and raki if you wish.
Day 3 Olu Deniz – Ucagiz
Waking up at this beautiful anchorage, you may decide to take a refreshing swim in the clear waters of the bay before breakfasting on the aft deck of your Sunseeker.
Today you will be making your way further eastwards to the Kekova Roads. Kekova Island – a four mile long island with slopes covered in olive and maquis – shelters the adjacent mainland from the prevailing wind. This island is the home of a sunken city and there are other underwater ruins off the nearby mainland village of Kale Koy. This village – a smattering of bleached red roofs built into the rocky land – is overlooked by a small yet magnificent castle.
Finally you will make your way into the excellent shelter of Ucagiz Limani – a completely landlocked bay – where an anchorage will be found for the night.
After lunch on board you may wish to take the tender into the hamlet of Ucagiz to take in the charm of this isolated place. It is thought that the ruins adjacent to the hamlet are those of the ancient provincial city of Teimiussa.
Tonight you can enjoy a fine dinner prepared by your chef at anchorage under the stars, or take one of the restaurants’ courtesy boats ashore to enjoy the local atmosphere.
Day 4 Ucagiz – Kas
This morning you will have time to enjoy this area further – perhaps by taking the tender somewhere to snorkel or just to explore some of the other anchorages nearby.
Later, your Sunseeker will head back west, out of the Kekova Roads and along the mainland towards tonight’s destination – Kas. Lunch again will be en route.
This town lies in a moon-shaped bay, which is sheltered by the Greek island of Kastellorizon to the southwest and a peninsula to the north. Steep, scrub- covered slopes provide a backdrop to the oasis green of the town.
Kas has a selection of restaurants along its waterfront from which you can choose for your evening meal.
Day 5 Kas – Fethiye
Further retracing your steps passing the awesome rocky landscape of the mainland, today your journey will take you to Fethiye, which is across the bay from Gocek.
Fethiye is a popular resort in a bay strewn with islands. The islands provide plenty of options for your lunchtime stop. The port of Fethiye provides quite a sight from the sea. Overlooking it, the ruins of a fortress built by the Knight of Rhodes sit on a promontory. Also, built into the cliff face behind are numerous rock tombs, which are believed to be styled in the fashion of ancient buildings of the time.
The town offers some good restaurants where tonight you will be able to enjoy some local cuisine.
Day 6 Fethiye – Marmaris
Marmaris is a popular tourist resort with excellent facilities and shopping. Today your journey will take you out of the bay where Gocek and Fethiye are situated and along the mainland westwards towards the natural harbour of Marmaris.
Marmaris offers a range of shopping: souvenir shops – where you can buy ‘cambali’ pine-scented honey, Turkish carpets and more – as well as boutiques and colourful bazaars. It also boasts being one of the few places where you can enjoy the heady aroma of the frankincense tree.
In contrast with being in more rural areas in the last few days, here you can enjoy tennis and horse riding if you wish.
Whether you decide to lunch on board or ashore today, you may f ind you wish to eat at one of the shore-side restaurants this evening where you have beautiful views across the harbour.
Day 7 Marmaris – Ekincik
Leaving the relative hubbub of Marmaris behind today, you will start journeying back towards Gocek.
Leaving Marmaris after a leisurely breakfast, your Sunseeker motoryacht will arrive at the mouth of the Dalyan Delta in no time at all. Anchoring here, you will be free to venture up the Dalyan River to the ancient city of Caunos.
En route along this marshy river, you may happen to see turtles, herons, sandpipers and kingfishers, as well as more of the rock tombs carved into the riverside cliffs. The ruins of Canous comprise Roman baths, a temple, a market place and a small theatre. A medieval fort crowns the steep hill, which also affords fantastic views of the town of Dalyan. Caunos has been described as ‘quite inexpressibly and hauntingly beautiful’.
Enjoy the day exploring this area before re-boarding your Sunseeker to anchor in the picturesque Ekincik Bay for the night. Here, you can enjoy a sumptuous dinner prepared on board by your chef.
Day 8 – until 12 noon Ekincik – Gocek
Enjoy a relaxing breakfast on the aft deck of your Sunseeker on the final day of your charter.
The final leg of your journey will be to return to your starting point – taking just over an hour. But before heading into Port Gocek Marina to be waved safely off by your captain and crew, you will have the opportunity to enjoy perhaps one final anchorage and a swim in these beautiful turquoise waters.
