Once you have been welcomed on board the vessel and settled in, your Sunseeker will slip its mooring and head out of the Gulf of Spezia. You will follow the coast of the Riviera Levante in a northwesterly direction towards your first port of call – Portofino.
This forty-mile journey will give you a chance to relax and enjoy the scenery provided by the high, mountainous terrain and attractive towns and villages en route, including the famous ‘Cinque Terre’ region.
Portofino, the namesake of one of the Sunseeker models, is renowned for being frequented by the rich and famous. This is a stopover not to be missed – it is beautiful, elegant and sophisticated.
For dinner, you may wish to visit the aptly named ‘Hotel Splendido’. Set high on the hillside, it affords fabulous views of Portofino and the surrounding area.
Day 2 Portof ino – Verazze
Having enjoyed a relaxing breakfast, you will head out of Portofino and along the coast to the small cove of San Fruttuoso.
Ligurian Coast
This settlement is unique in that it is accessible only via water or by a long, arduous hike. Also of interest is a statue which sits under the water in the bay. Inscribed on the statue are the words: Il Cristo Degli Abissi.
You may wish to anchor here for lunch or to continue along the coast, past Genoa, to your next destination – Verazze.
Verazze, midway between La Spezia and Monaco, retains its old-world atmosphere. While being a popular tourist resort providing excellent beaches, it also has a fascinating old town which is wreathed in flowers and greenery.
Tonight you may wish to dine at ‘Antico Genovese’ – a restaurant that dates back to 1910 and has been run by three generations of the same family.
Day 3 Verazze – Alassio
Today’s cruise will take you along the coast, passing the large port of Savona. The pretty resort of Alassio is about 30 miles from Verazze. It is famed for its ‘Muretto’ – a small wall displaying signatures of personalities such as Sophia Loren and Frank Sinatra.
This resort also boasts over 3.5 km of beautiful sand beach and is described as being the ‘true jewel’ in the Italian Riviera.
Day 4 Alassio – Monaco
After an enjoyable breakfast looking out towards the small island of Gallinara, your Sunseeker will depart from the harbour and head southwest along the Riviera Ponente, towards Monaco. Also known as the ‘riviera of flowers’, this area offers more fascinating views of the flower-growing sites and the spectacular ravine which marks the border between France and Italy.
The Principality of Monaco is a unique port of call. With its intriguing history, fabulous nightlife (including the famous casino) and cosmopolitan atmosphere, it retains its reputation as the fashionable place to be.
In the evening, you may wish to dine at the fabulous ‘Quaie des Artistes’ restaurant in the Port of Monaco.
