For more detailed information on the accommodation categories and the way they are graded along with information on the National Accessible Scheme, please see page 57.

For your convenience, the accommodation in this guide has been divided into 5 colour coded sections:

For details of these accommodation categories, see page 57.

Price Banding (Applies to serviced accommodation only)

Prices are denoted by pound signs in each advertisement:

£ ££ £££ ££££

£50 or less £51 – £70 £71 – £90 £91 – £120

£££££ £121 and over

These price bands, where applicable, are based on the price per twin/double room for one night and, in most cases, with English breakfast. Service charges and VAT are also included unless otherwise stated.

Single / Family Occupancy: Please note that most establishments may reduce the charge for single occupancy and increase charges for a family room. We advise you to check before confirming your booking.

One Night Stays: A number of accommodation providers do not accept one night bookings at weekends. For more details, please contact Visit York’s Information Centre on 01904 550099.

Cancellations Should you need to cancel your booking, there may be a cancellation charge. This will vary according to the accommodation provider and needs to be confirmed when booking. Cancellation and holiday insurance cover is widely available to protect you from such eventualities.

Staying Out of Town? This symbol indicates how far from York city centre the accommodation provider is situated in miles.

Facilities We try to ensure that each entry for accommodation in this brochure is as accurate and easy to understand as possible and, for this reason, have kept the use of symbols to a minimum. (A key to the symbols can be found on the next page and is repeated throughout the accommodation pages.) We recommend however that whether booking via Visit York’s Information Centre or direct with the establishment, you check your own requirements carefully.

Walking Distances Many accommodation providers give approximate distances to the city centre. As everyone walks at a different pace, these can be misinterpreted and we suggest you look at the distance circles on the map (see page 60) and if in doubt, contact Visit York’s Information Centre.
