Explore the excavations which first unearthed the Viking-Age city of York. Built on the very site where archaeologists discovered over 40,000 Viking-Age artefacts, this is now your chance to get up-close to 1,000 year old houses as they are revealed beneath your feet. Experience the Viking-Age city as you travel onboard our state-of-the art capsules, encounter the citizens that lived there, see inside their houses and backyards, and experience all the sights, sounds and smells of Jorvik.

New for 2011/12, two new exhibitions highlighting what illnesses and diseases Vikings suffered from, as well as the battles they fought in, types of weapon used, and injuries that resulted from them.
