Good Things To Know Camp Staff and Training

A qualified adult director supervises each camp. Counselors at each camp are mature and enthusiastic college and high school students. All camp staff complete an extensive training program that includes supervision and safety techniques, pool safety, activity development and first aid.

Parent Information & Emergency Forms

Online Access: Parent manuals, welcome letters and emergency forms for camps are now available online and will also be mailed out. These materials contain information about lunches, field trips, swimming activities, camp clothes, hours, schedules and more. Emergency forms are mandatory so that we have all the information necessary to ensure the safety of your children. Beginning May 21, go to glenviewparks.org for this important information. If you don’t have access to a computer call (847) 724-5670.

Swimming at Camp

Swimming activities vary per camp and are specified in each camp description. All campers attending a camp that includes swimming will undergo a swim proficiency evaluation to ensure their safety. For the convenience of our parents and campers, pool passes are not necessary for campers to enjoy our pools during camp hours. Instead, all of our campers will be admitted as part of the camp fees when attending the pools as part of their camp program. Parents wishing their child to utilize park district pools after camp hours or on weekends have the options of paying a daily fee or purchasing a pool pass. For information on purchasing an indoor or outdoor pool pass, stop by Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave. or see our spring brochure which will be distributed to residents beginning Feb. 4.

Information Requests —

Information regarding campers enrolled in park district camps is confidential. For your family’s safety, staff is not allowed to release phone numbers and addresses of other campers.

Change in Camp Locations

Though we do our best to secure camp locations in advance, occasionally we must relocate our camp due to last minute needs from the public schools or insufficient enrollment numbers necessitating consolidation of sections. If this should

occur, you will always be given the choice of a full refund or a transfer to an alternate available camp.

Safety & ADA Assistance

The park district wants to assure all campers have a safe and fun experience. Although the park district does not require children to have a medical examination to attend camp, your pre-camp emergency forms inform us of any special medical needs, including allergies and emergency details. As added protection for our youngest campers, we have adopted the procedure to have all of our preschool camps nut-free. For our older age camps, a separate nut-free eating table may be designated or if the allergy is life threatening the entire camp section may become nut-free.

If your child needs accommodation in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act, please contact us as soon as possible to ensure a successful experience for your child.

Financial Assistance —

The park district believes in making programs available for all children in Glenview. If you are in need of financial assistance in order to participate, please stop by Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave., and pick up a Leisureship application today or download the form from glenviewparks. org. Assistance will be granted to families who qualify based upon need and availability of funds. This financial assistance program is available to Glenview Park District residents only.

Vacation Rebates

Vacation Rebates are available for families registering in Camp Funview (5 days), Camp Wilderness (5 days), Adventure Day Camp (5 days) and G Crew (4 days). This unique service is offered for these camps only due to the 6+ hours per day, 4+ days per week, multiple week structure of camp that results in more costly fees for each participant. Vacation Rebates are an opportunity for a family to receive a one- time refund in the amount of $100 due to a family vacation or other family plans. A Vacation Rebate Request Form will be available at the Park Center Front Desk beginning the week of May 14, 2012. If you wish to request a one week rebate of your camp fee, this form must be filled out and returned by June 18 designating what week your camper will not be attending camp. Rebate weeks are for a Monday through Friday period only. Your Rebate request dates may not be changed or modified after June 22. The June 18 request deadline will be strictly enforced to allow the park district to finalize staff needs, field trip arrangements, program supplies and more. You will receive your vacation rebate at the conclusion of our camp season in mid- August. For questions regarding Vacation Rebates, contact us at (847) 724-5670.

Emergency Closings & Cancellations—

The Glenview Park District endeavors to keep its facilities and programs operating whenever possible. There are times, however, when weather, road conditions or facility malfunctions dictate that programs and/or services must be cancelled or temporarily postponed or entire facilities closed. In order to provide employees and patrons with a safe and secure environment in which to work and play, the Glenview Park District reserves the right to close a particular facility, cancel a program or modify activities based on specific criteria which can be found on the park district website, glenviewparks.org, in the Park District Policies section.

The Glenview Park District will make every attempt to communicate any closing or cancellation via the park district website glenviewparks.org and the park district’s Information/Cancellation Hotline (847) 724-3337.
