METALCASTING SUPPLIES Equator by Renishaw

Renishaw’s programmable gaging system Equator is an alternative to traditional hard gages. It contains new technological features and enables high speed com- parative gag-

ing for inspection of high-volume manufactured parts. Te software-programmable system can switch between different parts in seconds for flexible manufacturing scenarios for suppliers to the automotive, aerospace and medical sectors. Equator’s gaging technology compares production parts to a reference master part. Te machine can endure thermal changes or other environmental changes on the shop floor. Similar on a scalable and adaptable “parallel kinematic” structure, it allows high speed form scanning and rapid moves between features, while retaining the point-to-point

repeatability that is operated by “push-button” technology. Visit www.renishaw.com for more information.

Metal Finishing System

Birchwood Casey’s aluminum oxide process is an environ- mentally friendly, non-toxic AO conversion coating system. Te system can replace cold blackening on iron and steel components. Te finish requires five steps and 18 minutes to apply. Applications include tooling and machining compo- nents, automotive parts and large components, such as oilfield drilling equipment. Te finish is non-dimensional silver-black

and has corrosion-protection and anti-galling properties. Visit www.birchwoodcasey.com for more information.

Cast Iron Welding Rod

Weldability-Sif offers the Sif Super Silicon No9, a welding rod in the Sifbronze range for oxy-acetylene welding of cast iron. Te rods produce high-strength weld metal with the same structure as cast gray iron and a matching color. Te 3.28 ft. rods are square in section with 1.57-in, .24-in. and .39-in. diameters and 2.2-lbs. and 11.02-lbs. packets avail- able. Tey are built for welding and joining of castings that can be found in the general manufacturing, agricultural and construction industries. Te rods also can be used for surfac- ing new castings or repairing worn, broken, damaged or cracked areas of older castings. Tey are suitable for welding cast iron to high alloy steel or manganese steel plates. Te

rods have a melting point of 2282F. Visit www.weldability-sif.com for more information.
