As we reach the twilight moments of 2011, the sporting and outdoor goods industry prepares itself for the collective trip to Munich for the annual ISPO trade show, now in its 42nd year.

The SGB team is no different and we will grace ISPO with our presence at the show, which takes place from the 29 January to 1 February. This is an excellent chance for us to speak to everyone within the outdoor industry, get a taste for new product launches and, from our own point of view, ask how we can improve this publication. For our comprehensive ISPO review, check out page 8.

If you see us in Munich, feel free to wax lyrical about how we can do more to provide you with relevant trade information to make your jobs easier.

With winter now well and truly upon us, this month we showcase a selection of the latest poles, ski wear and ski wear accessories currently on the market. Having not been skiing for a few years, this has certainly revived my enthusiasm for the sport and I am very keen to book a skiing holiday soon - although I don’t think my body is particularly looking forward to that prospect!

Elsewhere, Outdoor profiles the new Wenger Ueli Steck Knife and asks whether the increase in survival programmes on television has had a positive impact on retailers selling knives and multi tools. This feature is a shape of things to come in 2012 with a far more retailer-focused theme running through the whole magazine.

Happy Christmas everyone and lets hope for a prosperous New Year for our wonderful industry.
