peed and simplicity are at the heart of Thorworld Industries' new-look website
oading systems specialist, Transdek, has installed a 6.5-tonne Double Deck Lift and a wheel ramp system for TJ Morris, the Home Bargains retailer, which significantly speeds up the unloading and turnaround times of the company’s double deck vehicles. TJ Morris was established over 30 years ago and has grown to become one of the biggest privately owned companies in the UK. Its Home Bargains brand is the third largest independent grocer in the country with over 250 stores that are serviced by a purpose-built £35million national warehouse and distribution centre at the company’s headquarters in Gillmoss, Liverpool. At the facility, Transdek has installed a self contained hydraulic double deck loading system that enables TJ Morris to handle up to 20 double deck trailers over a 24-hour period on this dedicated unloading dock. The compact, surface mounted lifts are designed to enable simple integration and flexible operation, without the need for costly civil engineering work. Each easy to operate unit incorporates a raft of safety features that are geared towards enhanced loading efficiency, as well as safeguarding operators.

Castell’s new Salvo™ Susie
Salvo™ range of drive-away prevention products. The redesigned Salvo™ Susie features an ergonomic grip that enables the lock to be fitted to and removed from an articulated trailer’s emergency air line coupling more efficiently, especially in wet and cold conditions. This is in keeping with Castell’s product development strategy, which seeks to enable fast, safe access. The new Susie has also been designed to provide enhanced protection against oil and grease, substances commonly found in the environment in which the lock is used. Paul Marks, who recently joined Castell as new product development director, explained the thinking behind the new Susie: “Salvo™ is a highly successful system which now protects thousands of loading docks around the world. To build on this success, the new product development team investigated how we could improve the product’s ergonomics and usability. We decided that increasing the product’s ease of use could deliver major advantages to our customers.
