Fortress Ensures Machine Safety

with New Extracted Key Adaptor

afety Interlocking company Fortress Interlocks has added its new E1, Extracted Key Adaptor, to the amGard range of modular safety gate switch interlocks. The E1 has been designed to ensure that the door to hazardous machinery cannot be opened without removing the safety key, and the machinery cannot then be restarted until the key is returned. Fortress has achieved this by designing a mechanism that traps the actuator in the head until the key is removed which then allows the ‘gate’ to swing over the keyhole. While the actuator remains out of the head, the gate remains over the keyhole preventing the key being returned to the lock. E1 ensures a specific sequence of operation and can be stacked or combined with other adaptors; up to 5 key adaptors can be used in one configuration. E1 also provides a unique link to Fortress’ high profile mechanical mGard range of interlocks. E1 works with access key and safety key adapters, amGard LOK or STOP bodies and is suitable for either hinged or sliding door applications.

urex Welding Products City & Guilds Accredited Gas Equipment Inspectors Certification and Recertification Courses are designed for all those responsible for the safety aspects of oxy-fuel gas systems. One of the latest attendees is Peter Davy, Health & Safety Coordinator, Boston College, Lincolnshire. He found that the course gave him the knowledge and competency to ensure the safety of all the learners and staff involved in the many training courses, which use gas equipment at the college. Peter won a national competition and attended the two-day Certification Course at Murex Welding Products' Head Office in Waltham Cross. It covered theoretical instruction on Oxy-Fuel Gas Safety, The Properties of Gases, Safe Use and Operation of Systems. The second day included practical training to teach delegates how to fully test an oxy-fuel gas station and pass it off for safe use. 2012 Murex City & Guilds Accredited Gas Equipment Inspectors Certification course dates are: 15th & 16th February, 21st & 22nd March, 23rd & 24th May, 19th & 20th September, 14th & 15th November.
