NAWP Connect 2011: Lessons Learned

National Conference Chair Kelly Werder shares key points from the general sessions at this year’s NAWP Annual Conference.

Keynote speaker Andy Ebon ,The Wedding Marketing Authority- kicked off with “Avoiding Weddings of Mass Destruction.” He touched on a number of topics all relating to vendors understanding each others’ point of view and working together to create a great wedding day.

 “Brides are confused,” Andy opened. “There is lots of inspiration out there *in magazines and on blogs+ without the budget to go with it.” He noted that it’s important that vendors encourage the bride to make choices that have the greatest impact first.

 “Every wedding has a team whether or not you’ve chosen them,” he remarked. “It’s our collective jobs to make their day and take responsibility for the event,” and be the solution.

 One way to ensure the couple has a great experience? Great wedding coordinators, superior venues and industry standards for certification.

The Public Relations Panel at our networking lunch was a big hit. Stacie Francombe ,InspireSmartSuccess-, Siri Eklund ,Two Bright Lights- and Tiffany Cook ,Dream Design Weddings- shared their tips for getting published and on TV with moderator Kelly Werder ,WedBiz Media-. Key points included:

 You can’t be published if you don’t submit!  Even a local TV segment can be great for business.

 You are the expert in your field so share your knowledge. Guest blogging is good for all vendors!

 Build relationships with magazine and blog editors.

TwoBrightLights.comis a great tool for submitting to multiple blogs and publications.
