Of UK leaders rate the quality of leadership as ‘high’ in their organisations

Farnham Castle develops podcast library

n Farnham Castle has developed a podcast library for the remote delivery of intercultural training. Topics will include an introduction to cultural awareness, advice and guidance on working with individuals and teams from other cultures, and detailed expatriate briefings for every country in the world.

The podcasts allow organisations to deliver the same training message to a large number of staff, using a variety of platforms, such as iPhone, Blackberry or memory sticks – where personnel may not have easy access to internet connectivity. Jeff Toms, director of marketing and client services, commented: “These new training offerings, now mean that the highest quality training is available to staff regardless of their geographical location and in the most flexible format possible.”

Record profit for Edvantage group

Fierce competition

n More than half of organisations (52 per cent) believe the competition for talent has increased, according to a survey by CIPD. So too has the shift of skills from the UK to the East, which means organisations are looking for sustainable ways to manage talent. Claire McCartney, resourcing and talent planning adviser, said: “Shortages of specialist skills and talent in the UK workforce indicate that organisations need to develop from within as well as establish a strong employer brand. Otherwise organisations could run the risk of an unwelcomed halt to progress.”
