provides an accurate reflection of the on- time performance of a transportation program. For example, a school district might


report that 95 percent of its busses arrived at school at or before the planned time, and that 99 percent of all busses arrived within 10 minutes after the planned time. Tis data provides a clear understanding for schools, parents and administrators on the effect the transportation program has on the educational day. We would know from these measures that 95 percent of all students are at school in time for breakfast or other before-school activities. We know that 99 percent of all students are at school no later than 10 minutes after the planned arrival time. We also know that 5 percent of students were up to 10 minutes late


and that 1 percent of students


were very late for school based on the transportation service’s performance. Of course, the question of how the


data is captured is of equal importance for the accuracy and integrity of this KPI. Tere are many possible ways to capture this data including driver reports, school

industry for what ‘on time’ means. With- out standardization, it is difficult to track our performance year over year and impos- sible to compare our programs to others. ❞

sense to you and that we can all start to report our on-time performance KPI us- ing this consistent, two-part format. ■
