Resort. Te competition, which included a written exam and 10 skills stations, took place earlier that day in the hotel parking lot. An awards banquet honoring Fletcher and the other category winners was held that evening. “I really don’t know if I have the words to express how I felt when I won first place

in transit and ‘Top Gun,’” said Fletcher, who became the first Nye County driver to win both events. “I was totally shocked when I heard my name for first place and then again minutes later as ‘Top Gun.’ I think by then I was in real shock.” She added that she spent hours studying for her first road-eo competition and training

with fellow drivers from Nye County — one of whom, third-year driver Tricia Beane, finished in second place behind LaDene in the transit category. Te district provides transportation to communities of Amargosa, Beatty, Duckwater, Gabbs, Yomba, Tonopah, Smokey Valley and Pahrump located in the southcentral region. Nye County is the third-largest county by area in the contiguous United States but is also one of the most rural. Tis fleet of 102 buses travel approximately 1.3 million miles per year. “I was extremely proud when two members of my staff, both of whom came to Reno

I remember my boss telling me, ‘Don’t hyperventilate.’” Te Nevada state road-eo is scheduled again for the 2012 STN EXPO on July 21. “I know that all participants benefitted from this association,” said McRae. “I hope

that, with your organization’s continued support, we can make this an even better event in years to come.” ■
