Investment Firm Buys Triumph Precision Castings
Private equity fi rm Torque Capital Group, New York,
has acquired the assets of Triumph Precision Castings Co., Chandler, Ariz., and renamed the turbine parts investment caster TPC Castings. TPC Castings serves the industrial gas turbine and aero
gas turbine engine markets, producing rotating blades, vanes, shrouds and other parts used in the hot gas path section of turbine engines. “T e management team is looking forward to partnering
with Torque Capital to build on and broaden the unique capabilities of the combined company, which will continue to deliver outstanding value to our customers,” said Mark Doelling, president of TPC Castings. In a separate transaction, the private equity fi rm
purchased machine shop Dynamic Turbine LLC, Norcross, Ga., an operation started by Doelling to machine the same types of parts the metalcasting facility makes. “T e combination of the investment casting expertise of
TPC Castings with precision machining capability creates a vertically-integrated provider of complete hot section parts manufacturing solutions for the global [turbine] marketplaces,” said Joseph Parzick, managing partner of Torque Capital Group. According to Torque Capital Group, TPC Castings is equipped with a fully automated and environmentally controlled shell molding line and vacuum induction melting furnaces producing equiaxed, directionally solidified and single crystal castings. The facility also operates vacuum heat treat, produces cored molds for hollow components and performs all nondestructive testing processes in-house. Torque Capital Group said it intends to actively
partner with the manufacturing companies’ existing management teams to continue operating and improving the businesses.
Personnel Changes
Tom Renk was installed as president of United Machine & Foundry Corp., Winona, Minn.
Scott Guttman joined Cast Products Inc., Norridge, Ill., as its vice president of sales and marketing. Lethbridge Iron Works, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada,
has made three new appointments. Candice Kent will replace David Rynenberg as quality manager in August, Taher Hosseinzadeth joined the company as foundry technologist, and Mike Harper was tapped as the new vice president of production.
Mark DeBruin has joined Ellwood Engineered Castings, Hubbard, Ohio, as its plant metallurgist.
