“In designing AQUAVENTURE, we challenged the best designers, creative minds and water ride technologists to work with us to take the water experience to a different level,” said Alan Leibman, president/managing director of Kerzner International. “We believe there is something innate within human beings that cause them to react to water, and water is discovered at every turn at Atlantis, The Palm.”

most charismatic animals in an unparalleled habitat. Surrounding the Ziggurat temple is a complex river ride system, with waves pushing inner tube riders through lush landscape. The river loop, called the Rapids, is a 1.6 kilometer river adventure that uses 15 million liters of fresh water to propel inner-tube riders through high-intensity rapids, wave surges and waterfalls that circumnavigate the lush tropical waterscape of AQUAVENTURE. Also along the Rapids, guests find a variety of large zero-entry pools, with spacious sun decks allowing them to easily dip-in and out of the water at their leisure. The river loop consists of a sophisticated transport system that allows guests to float along or return to the waterslides without ever having to get off their tubes, thus creating one continuous never-ending ride. The Rapids is the longest river in the region and the only river that has multiple-level rapids, making for a different experience every time.

For guests who are looking for action that will keep them at the edge of their inner-tube, there is a wave river of 700 meters, The Torrent. A wave generator simulates a wave surge that is capable of swells reaching over 1 meter high at over 94,000 liters per minute that propels riders in their inner tubes along the course of the river on the wave crests. Guests can enjoy a zero-entry beach for easy entrance to the Torrent river or for enjoying the warm Arabian sun.

Also in a tribute to the surrounding sea, designers and artists from around the world — including David Rockwell, Adam D. Tihany, Jeffrey Beers and Wilson and Associates — created a stunning array of sculptures, artwork, hand-painted murals, exquisite fountains and waterfalls, and innovative design.
