The Fastrax UC430 features always-on location awareness
utilising SiRFaware technology. Thismeans themodule autonomously activates itself periodically fromstand-by, reducing time to first fix (TTFF) by up to 70 per cent. The SiRFaware technology allows themodule tomaintain hot-start readiness with power consumption of 125µA average current and less than 10mW in TricklePower 1Hz navigationmode to improve battery life.

AllegroMicroSystems Europe introduces the A4933, an automotive- grade three-phasemosfet pre-driver IC for the control of brushless DC motors in applications such as electronic power steering systems, engine cooling fans, transmission actuators and hydraulic pumps.
The device is primarily targeted at extreme applicationswhere high
power, high torque and high temperature demand amosfet pre-driver capable of delivering largemosfet gate drive and switching capabilities. It is particularly suitable for three-phase systems: especially those which use sinusoidal control of themotor phase currents. This commutationmethod boasts smooth operation,which reduces audible noise andminimises torque ripple at the load.
Key features of the A4933 include an integrated charge pump that
provides full gate drive for battery voltages down to seven volts and reduced gate drive for battery voltages as lowas 5.5V; a top-off charge pump that enables 100 per cent pulse-widthmodulation; adjustable dead time; an adjustable drain-to-sourcemonitor; and fault diagnostics.
