What else to see at Glee 2011? NEW: Glee Planteria

Located within the green heart of the show, Glee Nursery (Hall 5), Glee Planteria exhibitors can choose one of five different display benches, demonstrating a number of ways to display plants in a retail environment. All displays will be supported by the expertise of well known staging and POS companies such as Stagecraft, Floramedia, Timber Displays and C. Jackson, helping exhibitors to create an inspirational ‘in-store’ look so that visiting retailers and buyers can clearly, and easily, visualise presenting the plants in their own store.

NEW: The Greatest Merchandising Team

Linking with Garden Trade News’ Greatest Awards, this year Glee will play host to the shortlisted ‘greatest merchandising’ teams, where each team will be tasked with creating an eye-catching and inspirational merchandising display. Each team will be given the same products and space, and will be pitted against the clock to create eye-catching displays. The Greatest Award judges will then select the overall winner, awarding the prize on Wednesday 21st September.

The Hothouse

The hub of Glee’s educational programme for retail managers, buyers and their teams, The Hothouse will be centrally located in the heart of Hall 5. With content developed in association with The HTA and The APL, The Hothouse will this year address burning industry issues including attracting the next generation gardener, new technology such as 2-D barcodes and the current trends & best practices for catering in garden centres. Added to this The Hothouse will also welcome ‘Gardening Question Time’, a brand new panel that will answer your questions as part of a lively and interactive debate.

The Glee Garden Angels

Glee’s very own Dragons Den-inspired showcase, the Garden Angels will see a series of business thinkers put forward their pitch for their product and business case. Taking place in three, one hour sessions across each day of the show, the Garden Angels will be made up of a panel of industry leaders including Gardman’s Paris Natar and Sue Allen, former MD of The Millbrook Garden Company. They will be joined by a guest Angel each day, and will be led by Gardenforum.co.uk’s George Bullivant.

Off the Shelf

Glee’s ‘Off the Shelf’ feature draws on the show’s key theme of retail inspiration. Taking products that are notoriously difficult to merchandise, the Glee team will build a series of displays throughout the show to demonstrate how effective outside-the-box thinking can be. Alongside each creative display will be an example of the standard display for each product, helping to illustrate the difference some fresh thinking can make.

Innovators Zone

Glee’s exciting Innovators Zone area, which was introduced in 2009, provides an at-a-glance chance to source innovative products from entrepreneurs and small-scale manufacturers who are taking their first steps into the market, or making their debut at Glee. The dedicated Innovators area will be located in Hall 5, where visitors can source brand new garden, leisure and pet products and help grass-roots businesses grow.

Glee New Products

Hundreds of new products are set to launch at Glee this year. To make navigating them that bit easier, they will once again be collected in the Glee New Products areas. A dedicated stand for both garden, pets and aquatic products will provide buyers with a whistle-stop tour of the newest innovations on the market. The products featured will also be entered into Glee’s New Product Awards, where industry experts will select the next big thing across a range of categories.
