Large audiences for Network Rail briefings
Well attended by Railtex visitors was a series of updates on major projects by senior Network Rail managers, providing first-hand insights into significant investment schemes countrywide. The programme included briefings on the Reading remodelling, Thameslink and electrification plans, plus a significant presentation by Network Rail’s Director, Investment Projects, Simon Kirby on the company’s new approach to supplier engagement. Network Rail was one of the event’s supporting organisations, with a large stand at the show.
Simon Kirby, Network Rail’s Director, Investment Projects, drew a large audience for his outline of the company’s future relationships with suppliers
A steel band, a welcoming glass and plenty of ‘finger food’ were on offer at the Networking Reception that marked the end of the first day of Railtex. Kindly sponsored by technology consultants CSC, this provided a great opportunity for exhibitors and visitors to get together and for colleagues to relax after a busy opening day.
The new RR14 EVO road-rail vehicle was displayed on the On-Track Display by Promax Access
The six Network Rail project updates complemented 24 separate seminars in programme devised by the rail engineer covering aspects of railway technology across the industry spectrum, with leading suppliers briefing attendees on topics ranging from cost-effective vehicle air-conditioning to modular
substations. The On-Track Display
proved popular again this year with exhibitors and visitors. Using sections of track provided by sponsor Tata Steel, this provided a setting for products from Bance, Pandrol Track Systems, Promax Access, Rosenqvist Rail, Semmco and Vortok International.
