Ateis equips King’s Cross upgrade
Ateis UK was able to provide more details
of the public address and voice alarm (PA/VA) system it is supplying for the redevelopment of King’s Cross station in London. The system forms part of a wider comms upgrade being undertaken by specialist integrator Fourway Communications as an element of a £500 million Network Rail scheme to create a transport centre that is a gateway not just to the rest of the UK via local and national rail services, but also the rest of Europe through neighbouring St Pancras. Up to 80 pre-recorded safety messages
are stored digitally on the PA/VA system to complement train announcement messages. Ateis says this means staff always know what is happening, while passengers get the information they need for their journeys and
feel comfortable while in the station. Fourway Communications Design Manager
Richard Osborne said: “The selection process of the manufacturer required careful consideration that the installation, commissioning and complex migration stages could be carried out with minimum risk to the operation of the station, whilst also providing a cost effective solution, and to date the Ateis system has proven itself in meeting all those requirements”. Ateis UK recently announced that together
with Notifier by Honeywell they have been awarded Network Rail Acceptance for their VA/PA systems. This followed the successful installation of a Notifier by Honeywell system at Shepherd’s Bush London Overground station in 2010.
