Characteristically poorly performing organisations have a culture of inconsistent accountability which inevitably results in inconsistent performance.
Such organisations tolerate a lack of accountability and what they tolerate eventually becomes their standard. Poorly performing organisations can attribute partly of their lack of performance to a lack of ownership or accountability for the decisions that led to poor results.
Personal accountability is one of the core values which an organisation cannot afford to relinquish. An organisation that sets personal accountability as a core value requires employees to take personal ownership of their actions, focuses on how every employee can personally contribute to the success of the organisation and does not tolerate the blame game and a victim mentality.
