SHOW PREVIEW

The inaugural CTS Show takes place at Collett Transport Services’ head quarters in Berkeley, Gloucestershire on 6-7 July and, according to the show organisers, it is going to be a show with a difference. Find out why.

CTS: A working show C

OLLETT TRANSPORT Services intend to provide visitors with a show where they can ‘see it, touch it, feel it’. This show will be different from other shows in as much as exhibitors will be encouraged to demonstrate kit on their stands as well as in the large demonstration area. CTS Show visitors will have the opportunity to see the vehicles in action and literally ‘press the buttons’ to make them work; creating a truly working show.

CIWM regional conference In times of financial constraint where budgets are being cut and spending monitored, attending a show has to be justified and CTS gives visitors the opportunity to do just that by coming to their event.

The show is being held in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management who is holding its regional conference for the South West and Wales on Wednesday, 6 July. By attending the conference, it contributes four hours towards the 30 hours required for continuing professional development (CPD) activities.

It is CTS’ aim for visitors to come away with knowledge and information to better equip them

in their job, enabling them to achieve their aims and objectives.

Forums by industry experts On Thursday, 7 July the CTS Show is hosting a variety of forums by industry experts including weighing applications: safety and benefits, site safety plus: health, safety, welfare and environmental issues and a presentation by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA). In addition, Swindon Commercial Services will be presenting an overview of their DVD, A Matter of Life and Death. Described as “simple, yet effective” and “hard to ignore” by the CIWM judges, this DVD is a ‘must have’ for any vehicle operator. The film has also won a RoSPA silver award.

Certified training

Another reason to attend the CTS Show is to benefit from Level 1 operator training, provided by Terberg Matec. Terberg is offering one hour training for people, in groups of eight, to take them to Level 1. Having completed the training each attendee with be given an official certificate, enabling them to operate a Terberg bin lift and get them on the way to becoming

an in-house trainer. To book your free training, call Christine Hitchon on 01453 511050 or email marketing@colletttransport.co.uk. Other opportunities at the show include an offer from Dennis Eagle to familiarise yourself with the operation of the award winning Olympus refuse compaction body.

MEC UK will also be demonstrating a Renault 6x2 rigid with drawbar trailer. It has a hook lift system that can handle not only standard hook bins but 20’ ISO containers as well. This will be on site for the two days of the show and will be available for anyone to look at or operate in conjunction with the driver/operator they are sending

Networking opportunity

Another reason to attend is to network with some of the industry’s finest. CTS has secured major manufacturers, body builders and equipment specialists who are exhibiting their latest products. The list includes Dennis Eagle, Edbro, Geesink Norbra, Isuzu and NTM. With health and safety issues at a premium, there are also industry specialists such as Vision Techniques, PM Onboard and VWS to give visitors the benefit of their experience.

Ride and drive

Dennis Eagle will be offering visitors the opportunity to ride and drive an Elite 2 6x4 RCV. Geesink will be supplying a Mercedes Econic, 6x2 rear steer and Collett Isuzu is going to supply a 7.5t Easy Shift.

Where else can you road test these vehicles and try them out for yourself?

Location, location, location Finally, the CTS Show is in a prime location, conveniently situated on the A38 in South Gloucestershire between Junction 13 and 14 of the M5. Within easy reach of the Midlands, Wales and the M4 corridor, it’s an ideal location for a show. With free entry, parking and lunch included, CTS is expecting in the region of 100 to 200 visitors to the show each day. CTS show organisers say there has been a good response to training bookings and there has been a lot of interest from the waste and recycling industry.
