SHREDDERS/BALERS/COMPACTORS Jarshire
EIGHTEEN MONTHS’ experience has confirmed Tempur UK Warehouse manager, Grant Young’s decision that an IPS V606 vertical baler was the baler of choice for installation at the company’s site in Hayes, Middlesex. Before making his decision, Young carried out extensive research
into the baler market, taking into account a recommendation by their recycling company who had previous experience of IPS products. That decision
has been more than
justified as being compact, easy and safe to use and reasonably priced, the V606 began to pay for itself with almost immediate effect. Tempur UK manufactures mattresses and pillows and is a global company with a UK turnover of £27.3m.
Currently at its Hayes site, 100 tonnes of cardboard and 25–30 tonnes of shrink-wrap are recycled per annum with this set to increase as the company’s market share continues to grow. Rather than sending it to landfill, the baled waste is now saving on transportation costs and providing income on its recycling value. Supplied by environmental recycling specialist, Jarshire, the IPS V606 baler produces mill size bales, 1525mm x 760mm x 1220mm;
these being the most convenient and sought- after size for recycling companies to handle. The baler exceeds all EU and CE safety standards and incorporates comprehensive information diagnostics and advanced hydraulics more usually found on larger and more expensive models.

Lely Recycling Engineering WALL COVERING manufacturer Graham & Brown supply the UK, Europe, Canadian and
US markets from their 136,000 sq ft distribution centre at Padiham, Lancashire. Operating 24/7, around 20,000 pallets of wallpaper and wall art are moved through the centre in a 12-month period.
100% of the incoming pallets are shrink wrapped to contain the boxes while keeping the material dry, with 70% of the palleted goods requiring the plastic to be stripped and recycled. With plastic wrap being used extensively it makes economic sense to recycle while maintaining warehouse cleanliness. Following recommendations, a Welger RV642 baler was first purchased for its ease of use. The warehouse staff all use the baler, and operator training is not an issue with the round bales being easily stacked and stored for bulk removal once or twice a month. If necessary, the baler can be wheeled to a different recycling area within the warehouse, although in most cases the plastic is taken to the baler.
The automatic wrapping of the plastic by plastic film, helps keep the recycling process simple.
The first Welger RV baler served Graham & Brown well throughout its busy six year life, so it was only natural that a second Welger RV baler was chosen to replace it. Graham & Brown can’t afford to be without a baler for long and Lely Welger soon had a replacement delivered and ready to work.

MachTech Services MACHTECH SERVICES have announced that a cooperation arrangement has been reached between the Lancashire-based machinery sales and service company and the Austrian machinery manufacturer, ATM Recyclingsystems. MachTech will look after ATM’S interests in the UK and Ireland following meetings at the
manufacturer’s premises in Fohnsdorf Austria, beginning with the installation of two baling presses at the premises of BMW in Swindon. ATM specialise in optimal metal recycling technologies and include the worldwide brand Arno-Technology within their product portfolio, with a history approaching 100 years of engineering innovation with over 80 years of that in the field of metal processing. ATM produce high specification briquetting presses, baling presses, breakers and cutters for waste management companies, recycling companies and other companies in the metal industry.
Commenting on the cooperation agreement, MachTech’s MD, Joe Hoyle said: “We have many years experience working with Lindner, the market leaders in the shredding field, and we see many of the same attributes of Lindner within ATM, from the business ethics of the management to the pride in the quality of their work from the shop floor engineers. These are attitudes we share at MachTech. “The quality of the ATM product range complements our existing portfolio with no conflict of interests,” continued Hoyle. “ATM is not the first company to have contacted us in regards to entry into our portfolio, but they are the first who have received universal approval from MachTech’s management team.”
According to sales manager, Martin Davies,
the Arno-Technology machinery available from ATM dovetails perfectly into the MachTech portfolio as its core customer base is already served by MachTech. Davies stated: “We have spent five years building a company that is at the very least the equal of any machinery supply company in the UK. To extend our product range is the next logical step so to extend it further into an industry where we are already well respected

and reliability Following a successful trial evaluation, SEDA UK purchased an AUSTROPRESSEN APV500 baler to compress cardboard tubes left from its McDonald’s packaging.
AUSTROPRESSEN, distributed in the UK by LELY UK LTD, was chosen for its strength and reliability. Equally LELY was seen to provide high levels of support and stability to its customer base – something that SEDA and McDonald’s welcome.
