EXANTE TRADING, the UK distributor for Copex, has sold a LIDEX 800t shear press to Bryan Hirst who operates a scrapyard at Bullington Cross in Hampshire. Reported to offer an extremely fast compacting phase, the LIDEX 800t shear press achieves an hourly production of 25 tonnes thanks to the innovative kinematics of the loading bucket. Material is dumped directly into the pusher zone and is compacted by means of a lid covering 80% of the box.

As soon as the material has been compacted by the lid and side-press piston, scrap is sheared at 6.5 strokes per minute. Production times are significantly reduced as there is no need to wait for the next compression cycle before reloading the bucket.
The press shear boasts the advantage of a winged shear press and the power of side compression.
Bryan Hirst said: “I’ve worked on and off for 30 years on machines like these and while it was the cost for the size of the machine that originally impressed me, its throughput has been a surprise. It has dealt with 250 tonnes in 10 hours on a 10” cut. It is fully automatic so the lad who feeds the machine is able to operate it as well. I expect the machine is going to keep us going for the next five to six years before we need to think of upgrading it.”
Available in electric and diesel drive versions, the machine also benefits from hydraulics newly developed by Copex.
