New charity shop

Secret World is pleased to announce the opening of a second Charity shop in Street, Somerset.

The new look shop front is sure to entice shoppers in and Manager Jan is looking forward to welcoming new customers in to browse around the many good quality items that will be for sale.

Janice and her assistant Lucy will be looking for more volunteers to help them in their shop and are hoping supporters will bring good quality items to the shop for them to sell. Items we are seeking include books, clothes, bric-a-brac, pictures and furniture. It would be gratefully appreciated if all items can be delivered directly to the shop, however if transport is difficult contact Secret World directly to make alternative arrangements.

The shop is open 7 days a week; Monday-Saturday 9am-4pm and reduced opening times on Sunday are from 10am-4pm.

If you require any more information about the shop and how you can help by either volunteering or donating goods please contact Secret World on 01278 783250 or visit www.secretworld.org

Little Pin Cushions!

Our first baby hedgehogs have arrived and this is where we are so lucky to have volunteers like Vicki who can give them the time and love that they need. Her babies are new born and will require a lot of time and attention - but we know they are in good hands.

Are you mad on hedgehogs? Then maybe you can help with a project called ‘Hedgehog Street’. This is an initiative aiming to empower small communities, encouraged by Hedgehog Champions, to take small steps to improve their neighbourhood for hedgehogs. The aim is to create a giant patchwork of hedgehog-friendly areas across the British Isles.

The North Somerset Council Biodiversity Officer is promoting this project which is being jointly funded by the People’s Trust for Endangered Species and the British Hedgehog Preservation Society. Anyone wanting further information on this project can gain information packs from www.hedgehogstreet.org. These are crammed with ideas on making your own garden and neighbourhood more hedgehog-friendly.

For more information contact Susan Stangroom, Biodiversity Officer, Natural Environment Team, North Somerset Council, Tel: 01934 426762

Please note she works Monday and Tuesday each week, and Thursdays on alternate weeks.
