Help the

Homeless We get many duvets and sheets brought into us and sometimes this leads to an excess as we do only have limited space.

I thought you would like to know that when we have more than enough, we send them to the Taunton Association for the Homeless.

We recently had a letter thanking us and saying what a great help they are. In the main though we use them for swans or water birds needing their keel bone protected while out of water and also for deer. So they are always welcome, thank you.

* Please note we cannot use feather duvets and nylon sheets.

Cygnet Day

Ferrets and Doggie delights at Blaise Castle!

Secret World will be joining animal lovers for fun filled day being held at Blaise Castle on Sunday 25th September 2011 (open from 11am-4pm).

Representatives from Secret World will be bringing with them their team of ferrets for the hilarious and entertaining ferret racing throughout the day! As well as a fun dog show there will be birds of prey, stalls, refreshments and a sponsored dog walk. Joining Secret World will be Hollyhedge Animal Sanctuary and Greyhound Rescue.

All proceeds raised from the day will be split between the three charities. We hope you will come and join in the fun and don’t forget to bring your four- legged friends!

Our Cygnets Club had a great day in the spring. With the help of Cori, Debbie and Tracey, a group of cygnets had a jam packed day at Secret World. They built a hide in the “Millennium Wood” near to the Bird Table and toured around the centre seeing many of the casualties being cared for.

They had the chance to see the tiny badger cubs that we were looking after, some of the birds of prey and Debbie brought in the Noctule bat that she cares for, so there were plenty of ideas when it came to drawing pictures and making posters. It’s great to see the children being shown the tracks and signs around the “Home Ground” - some budding wildlife enthusiasts, I’m sure.
