Missouri on the Mend After seeing a barrage of tornadoes make their way through
the state, residents of Missouri were working to rebuild what was taken away by the violent storms. More than 100 people lost their lives, with numerous more injured. In Joplin alone, more than 2,000 buildings were destroyed. At this writing, thousands of people were making their way to the city to help in the rebuilding efforts. Te tragedy has also acted as a reminder for many school districts to stay prepared for emergencies and schedule training for their staff to keep them on their toes and ready for anything. Pudlewski on Telematics Resident maintenance and technology guru and STN contributing edi-
tor Robert Pudlewski blogged about the importance of telematics, or, as it was once called, data communications reporting. Te technology al- lows transportation departments to effectively and economically operate at more efficient levels according to Pudlewski. Recently, a service known as “cloud computing” has come into the scene, allowing users
to host
specific services over the Internet and to cut costs by paying on-demand so they can use as little or as much data as nec- essary at any given time. Read more at www.
