Te future is now, according to IMMI, which announced it
is launching the new SafeGuard XChange seat this summer to demonstrate to the industry how school bus operators can update standard bus seats to include lap/shoulder restraint systems. School districts or private bus operators can exchange seating modules to add the three-point seat belts at a later date per changing school district requirements or new state regula- tions. IMMI also said the XChange seat offers the flexibility for district transportation directors and private bus operators alike to adjust to school board policy shifts and contractor reloca- tion of buses. Te new XChange product line was presented to the industry for the first time at the Texas Association for Pu- pil Transportation conference in June. IMMI said the seat was in final stages of compliance testing and will be available with original equipment manufacturers by this October.
Te new Smartie 1-2-OR 3 camera allows users to utilize up to
three external “plug-in” cameras for interior and exterior vehicle monitoring. Available are a front camera, a night-vision camera and a rear-view camera to enable video recording at these loca- tions around the vehicle. Te system includes internal and external microphones, and video GPS review software is preloaded to a 4GB SD card, which stores audio, video, vehicle speed, location, and impact G-force data. Te removable SD card can be plugged into a PC, where users can view simultaneous video from the three cameras on one screen with a Google Earth map view of the ve- hicle’s location. Users can store reports and video of actual events in each driver’s file. Te Drive Recorder box also has an optional lock box to prevent unauthorized access to the SD Card. A panic button is also included to allow manual recording.
