Wet tantalum caps target avionics, aerospace apps
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has launched a series of tantalum-cased wet tantalum capacitors with glass-to-tantalum hermetic seals for avionics and aerospace applications. The T16 electrolytic capacitors provide all the advantages of Vishay's SuperTan series devices, while offering improved reverse voltage and high vibration capability, said theMalvern, Pa.- based manufacturer.
The T16 offers enhanced performance
with a reverse voltage of 1.5 V at + 85 deg C and a high-reliability design with improved vibration, thermal shock, and mechanical shock capabilities. This initial release offers a capacitance range from 150 to 680 microfarads in the D case, and capacitance tolerances of +/- 20% standard at 120 Hz and +25 deg C. Tolerances of +/- 10% and +/-5% are available.
The T16 series operates over a
temperature range of - 55 deg C to +85 deg C, to +125 deg C with voltage derating, and provides low equivalent series resistance (ESR) down to 0.70 ohms at 120 Hz and +25 deg C.
Samples and production quantities are
available now, with lead times of 10 weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery starts at $74 each.

Gowanda Electronics recently launched its inaugural line of ultra-broadband conical inductors in response tomarket demand for more standard and custombroadband conical design options in communication applications.
The broadband product line offers standard
through-hole, flying lead (self-leaded) and surfacemount (SMT) designs in a variety of sizeswith up to 150-watt power capability. Typical operation ranges from40MHz to 40 GHz. RoHS, leaded or gold plating
Kemet extendsmilitary ceramic stacked capacitor line
KEMET Corp., Greenville, S.C., has expanded itsmilitary and space-grade ceramic stacked capacitor product line. As part of the KEMET Power Solutions (KPS)MIL Series, these devices are now available inMIL-PRF-49470 T-level high reliability product levels.
Available in BX, BR, BQ, and X7R
dielectrics, these devices are also offered in both surface-mount and through-hole
configurations. The operating temperature range is -55 deg C to +125 deg C.
With low equivalent series resistance
(ESR) and equivalent series inductance (ESL), they are suitable for switchmode power supply (SMPS), pulse energy for input and output filtering, and snubber applications.

Gowanda debuts ultra- broadband conical inductors
terminations are available. The operating temperature is -55 deg C to +155 deg C.
In addition, the conicals' 3-in-1 design
(replacing 3 inductorswith 1 conical) reduces the number of components, which saves board space and enhances performance, said the Gowanda, N.Y.-based company. The conicals also provide a predictable frequency response and repeatable RF performance. The unique broadband response of the coil is attributed to its precisionwinding, wire selection and coil configuration.
The company's customcapabilities have
been enhanced to provide broadband conicals with application-specific core configurations, electrical parameters, footprints, frequencies, wattage andwiring options (copper, gold plate, and specialty).

a piezo-electronic phenomenonwithin capacitors have caused light flickering and acoustic noise, posing significant engineering challenges in LED lighting applications, said the Smyrna,
Ga.-basedmanufacturer.Many designers didn't use ceramics in these applications despite theirminiaturized size and higher temperature reliability, saidMurata.
Nowwith the GR3 line, there is a 10-dB
Murata Electronics North America has developed two series of capacitors -- the GR3 and RDE (X7T) -- specifically to overcome flickering and noise problems in LED lighting applications.

acoustic noise reduction compared to standard ceramic capacitors, and further decreases achieved by incorporating the RDE leaded parts, according toMurata. The GR3 family is suitable for reflowsoldering, while
the RDE series provides radial leaded insertion production capabilities.
The GR3 is available in 250-, 450- or 630-
Vdc ratings and capacitance ranges from10 nF up to 1,000 nF for the 250V, 560 nF for the 450V and 270 nF for the 630V. Package sizes include 0805, 1206, 1210, 1812 and 2220. The RDE leaded series offers the same voltage rating as the GR3 series with capacitances starting from33 nF to a maximumof 2.2 μF for the 250V, 1.2 μF for the 450V and 560 nF for the 630V.
