Displays

ranging from3.3- to 4.0- incheswith resolution formats ranging from wide VGA (480 x 864) to HD (720 x 1280). These displays demonstrated advanced technologies such as high-contrast (up to 1,500:1), high-color (up to 92% NTSC), and wide viewing angle (up to H/V 176 degrees/176 degrees).

displays with glass bonding fromthe factory for outdoor applications.

Optrex also showcased its unique capacitive touch

technology, SuperWide View (SWV), available in panel sizes of 5.0-, 9.0- and 15.0-inches diagonal, and its new Advanced Black Nematic (ABN) technology that touts super high contrast ratios, wide viewing angles, and no color shifting fromoff-angles.

developments at the show included two different 3D technology and in-cell technology demonstrations. The 3D technologies included Integral Imaging 3D, which combines an ultra-high-resolution display and a lenticular lens sheet to enable "Multi-view" natural viewing without 3D glasses, and Time Sequential, an approach that is 2D/3D switchable, and enables a thin easy- to-assemble LCD panel, said Toshiba. Enabled by LTPS technology, TAEC

also demonstrated two in-cell technologies -- in-cell touch and in- cell write-erasable. In-cell touch is based on capacitive coupling between the user's finger and the detection electrode on the TFT substrate, while in-cell write-erasable is based on the integration of memory circuits and photo sensors in the display cell, said TEAC.

Optrex Corp., Tokyo, Japan, and its

sales andmarketing channel in the Americas, Optrex America, Inc., (Plymouth,Mich.) also featured several new LCD product lines and display technologies at the show. These included a variety of LED- backlit TFT LCDs that range in size from2.0- to 19.2-inches diagonal, as well as 6.5-inch VGA and 5.7-inch VGA TFT LCDs featuring a low voltage differential swing (LVDS) interface.

Optrex offers LED-backlit LCDs with

standard brightness (500-700 cd/m2) and HBLED-backlit TFT LCDs with high brightness (1000-1500 cd/m2), including a 15.0-inch diagonal HBLED- backlit LCD at 1500 cd/m2.Most of the LED-backlit TFT LCDs have a long lifetime of 100,000 hours. Other featured Optrex products

included a 19.2-inch diagonal triple wide (1920 x 360) display, a new 8.0- inch diagonalWVGA display for industrial applications, and TFT

Sharp's 8.5-inchWVGA display, one of the first in its size class to feature the company's Advanced Super View(ASV) technology, delivers a contrast ratio of 1000:1 plus 350 nits of brightness
