Frequency Control As an example, where a
crystal companymight measure jitter and phase noise from10 kHz up to 20 MHz, competitive technology companiesmight measure the parameters from1MHz up to 3MHz. Competition is also coming
fromsuppliers in China and Korea. "I think you're going to see some higher end, higher quality parts coming out of China and Korea in the near future," said Stoner. However, he believes the

military/aerospace businesswill still be served by the
U.S.market. Wolloch agreed. "Several companies in China are playing at the
high end, which four or five years weren't a factor. We see them competing for OEMcustomers in China but it's just amatter of time that we'll see themgoing worldwide."
New products drive growth One key growth driver is new product developments, say suppliers. "The only way to grow and survive in thismarket is going to be
differentiation of product and products that service the needs of a changingmarket. New products that will drive themarket for us are going to bemarket game changers that allow for better deliveries, and lower price points," said Stoner. MMDMonitor/Quartztek has several new products slated for
introduction in the third quarter of 2011. This doesn'tmean traditional new product developments
centered around smaller, cheaper and faster, will be going away any time soon. There still will be package shrinks. Wolloch said demand is still there for smaller packages, particularly
for handheld device applications. Although themarketwill be driven by cell phones and tablet-type computers, Raltron'smain thrust is in smart utilitymetering, which is growing very fast and driving demand for components like VCXOs and TCXOs, saidWolloch. In the area of new product development, Raltron has extended
the capabilities of its TCXO line in the 3225 package, and expanded the frequency range available from20 to 52MHz. The company also has developed high-frequency clocks and VCXOs above 700MHz with very low jitter, targeting networking and video applications. Fox says his company's focus these days are on new developments

for the XpressO line. The company expects to add a 1.8-volt part over the next fewmonths and a TCXO version later this year. Fox's third generation product, scheduled for launch in 2012, "will be a game changer," said Fox. Similarly, Cardinal is increasing inventory of its programmable
product line tomeet quick demand needs. Lead times are 48 hours to two weeks. Cardinal also has launched several newproducts. These include its
programmable 1- 200MHz TCXOCTAMproduct line, (CMOSOutput), programmable 1-200MHz TCXOCTAE product line (LVPECLOutput) and 1-200MHz programmable TCXOCTAL line (LVDSOutput). Cardinal plans to introduce dozens of newproducts in the third quarter.
