How would a company with good products to sell come to your notice?
Advertizing in your magazine, we also try to visit trade shows in the UK annually.
Do you have a surprising ‘best seller’? If so what is it? Not really.
What changes are afoot?
The oil industry arriving in force will be our next big challenge.
How do you see the future of the tool trade? We have enjoyed a period of growth since 1982, so we see no reason why it should change.

How long have you been trading? We began trading in 1984, not long after the conflict. Stanley was in a mess and the Falkland Islands needed bringing into the 21st century. The first tool company we traded with was Draper Tools in 1986, we still trade with them today. These days we import building materials, home improvements, furniture, tools, work clothing etc. from all over the UK, consolidating in Tilbury before being packed into containers, ready for the long journey to the Falkland Islands.
What are your opening hours? Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 5.30pm
How many employees do you have? 7
Which is your busiest day? Saturday
Do you have many regular customers? We are such a small community that all our customers are regular
When is your busiest time of year? Why do you think this is? It seems busy all year round.
Do particular lines sell well at different times of year? If so, which ones? We have a run on hose pipes in spring, garden forks in autumn. General tools sell well all year round.
Do you encourage reps to visit?
I’m sure some reps would love to visit us but could not justify the 16,000 mile round trip to their superiors. We are slightly out of area for most reps!
How do you follow up if a product catches your eye? I fill in the reader reply card you send out with the magazine and either post or fax it back to you.
Why do you deal with particular tool companies? Company’s who have great products, good export personnel and don’t mind waiting a little longer for their cheque! It can take up to 3 months from ordering to the goods arriving on the shelf. The long lead time can really give the cash flow a big hit when goods are late in arriving
