A-Plant Skills And Qualifications Initiative Raises The Bar For The
Equipment Rental Industry In 2010 A-Plant embarked on an ambitious plan designed to enhance the skills and qualifications of employees at all levels of its business. In keeping with the company’s history of designing and delivering industry leading training and development programmes, A-Plant has now established its ‘Skilled and Qualified Workforce Programme’ which has already enabled 180 employees to gain a formal NVQ qualification with a further 400 members of staff following in their footsteps. A-Plant, one of the UK’s largest equipment rental companies, has joined forces with a number of Training Partners and NVQ awarding bodies to offer employees the opportunity to gain an externally recognised qualification. As part of the ‘Skilled and Qualified Workforce’ initiative, a total of three NVQ courses are offered through an OSAT (On Site Assessment and Training) Programme - namely NVQ Level 2 in Carry and Deliver Goods for Drivers, NVQ Level 2 in Hire and Rental Operations for Rental Managers and NVQ Level 2 in Plant Maintenance for Fitters.
Since the programme was launched more than 50% of A-Plant’s Driver population have achieved the NVQ Level 2 in Carry and Deliver Goods, with a further 20% currently on the Programme and the remaining 30% due to be signed up. More than 80% of A-Plant’s Rental Managers have successfully achieved the NVQ Level 2 in Hire and Rental Operations and almost half of the company’s Fitters have completed the NVQ Level 2 in Plant Maintenance.
