The results can be diagnosed in various ways. Stress contributes to lack of energy and self-motivation. Some of the stress issues result in low sex drive, depres- sion, heart issues, digestive problems, insomnia, over- or under-eating, and overall fatigue in the body. The usual prescription for stress

is drugs, which do not always work. Some drugs can lead to lethargy and sluggishness, which is the opposite of what is required to reduce stress. Some men will deal with stress by eating poorly, drinking alcohol, taking drugs (prescription, over-the-counter or others), and/or smoking which only contributes to the cover-up the real causes of stress. Worry over finances, concern
tress can be a killer and a contributor to sickness. The statistics of how, when, where
about the job, taking on too much responsibility both personally and pro- fessionally are all the usual suspects that cause men stress. Sometimes in the moments of stress-filled situations, it is very difficult to stay balanced and focused. When watching TV, listen-
ing to the news, hearing about all the doom and gloom are more contribut- ing factors to the pressures of every day life. It becomes a huge stress on the body. The body becomes almost feverish. The body becomes toxic and inflamed, which contributes to illness. Perhaps the thoughts about meditation for men is that it is ineffec- tive, takes too much time, or doesn’t work, or it is not for me. The fact is that meditation does work, it doesn’t take long, and it is a practical meth- odology for men to reduce their stress levels. Steven Wolf, age 53, business owner of SCW Services Landscaping, is an advocate of meditation. “Medita- tion by releasing my stress is also my opportunity to connect to my Self and gives me a break from the stress. I feel so much better after meditating.” Meditation also helps the creative
