6. EXPLORING AFRICA’S GARDEN OF EDEN Hop aboard an open-top safari vehicle for game drives and a picnic lunch in two-million-year-old Ngorongoro Crater, a great place to spot Africa’s “Big Five” – buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard and the rare black rhinoceros. Return to your lodge for dinner. Meals BLD
7. VISIT THE “CRADLE OF HUMANKIND” Pack your own box lunch before setting off for Serengeti National Park. On the way, visit Olduvai Gorge, where fossilized remains of some of the earliest humans were found by Louis and Mary Leakey. Arrive at your tented camp in the heart of the Serengeti. Meals BLD
8. SOARING OVER THE SERENGETI... AT DAWN Up and at ’em for a hot air balloon ride* over the Serengeti at dawn – enjoy panoramic views of the grasslands, watching early morning rituals of the wildlife below. After lunch, spy zebras, hyenas, leopards, elephants and more on an afternoon game drive with a local guide who knows the best places to find the animals that make their homes here. Meals BLD
9. WILDLIFE OF THE WESTERN SERENGETI Drive to the western Serengeti and your hilltop lodge overlooking the Mbalageti River for lunch and time to relax. Look for wildebeest, prides of lions, fleet-footed cheetahs and herds of giraffes and zebras on a late afternoon game drive. Meals BLD
10. MORE SAFARI AND SUNDOWNER FUN Morning and afternoon game drives fill your last day on safari with more of the Serengeti’s awesome landscapes and wildlife. A “sundowner” on a private deck under a magical African sunset, followed by a farewell dinner, offer a fitting finale to a memorable week on safari in Tanzania. Meals BLD
