1. ARRIVE ARUSHA, TANZANIA Tour departs: Kilimanjaro International Airport. A transfer from the airport to Arumeru River Lodge is included; your African lodge is located on the grounds of an old coffee farm.
2. KILIMANJARO AND ARUSHA NATIONAL PARKS Your safari* begins at Mount Kilimanjaro where you’ll walk up the Merengu trail, then visit a woman of the Chagga tribe in her home. Alternatively, go on a full-day game drive in Arusha National Park. Everyone meets back at the lodge for a welcome dinner. Meals BLD
3. THE PLACE WHERE LIFE BEGAN Head for Tarangire National Park, home to the world’s second- largest concentration of big game. Look for elephants cooling off and big cats lounging under baobab trees on an afternoon game drive. After dinner, meet members of a local Maasai tribe, who share their customs and teach some Swahili around the campfire! Meals BLD
4. LEARNING FROM THE MAASAI First up, a morning game drive in Tarangire. You’ll then learn what it takes to make colorful beadwork – plus how to throw a spear and shoot a bow and arrow – from local Maasai tribe members.
